Blending her ebullient energy with creative inspirations, Susan Mackowiak discovered her balance in life through personal experiences and a passion for helping others. Before venturing into her focus in fine art, Susan built her foundation around family, faith and a fine appreciation of what truly brings happiness to her world and to the people around her.
Born in Miami, Florida, Susan and her family moved to Kentucky when she was a young teenager. She graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design. During her successful career as a prominent Graphic Designer, Susan lead an award winning creative team in designing the marketing materials for eight consecutive seasons at the prestigious Kentucky Opera.
After 20+ years in graphic design she began taking a deeper, more personal look at her creativity through the exploration of oil-painting and mixed-media. Her creative journey lead her to New York City where she studied with the internationally renowned contemporary painter Rebecca Schweiger at The Art Studio NY.
Susan recently retired as Professor Emerita at Ivy Tech Southern Indiana where she taught graphic design and painting workshops. She resides in Louisville where she paints and creates in her home studio.
